Using the CD-ROM Drive
Your CD-ROM drive can run software on CD-ROMs as
well as play music CDs. This section shows you how
to perform these different tasks.
Note:
If you have any problems with your CD-ROM drive,
see Chapter 2, Troubleshooting, in the
Inserting a CD
To insert a CD in the CD-ROM drive:

Make sure your computer is turned on.

To eject the disc tray, press the button under the
CD-ROM drive.

Remove the CD from its case, holding onto the
discs edges only.

With the label facing up, gently place the disc in
the tray.

Press the button under the CD-ROM. The disc
tray glides back inside the computer.

As with diskettes, CDs require special handling so that

tips:
• Return CDs to their protective cases when you are
finished using them.
• Avoid touching the underside of the disc with
your fingers or placing the disc face up on your
desktop. Doing so could scratch the surface.
• Handle the disc by its outside edges or inner hole
only.
• Store CDs at room temperature.
