    Dolby CP950 and CP950A support multichannel PCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby E, and Dolby TrueHD. The CP950 is designed for use in 5.1 or Dolby Surround 7.1 auditoriums or spaces. The CP950A supports Dolby Atmos when the required enablement (license) is installed. Dolby Atmos vastly expands the palette for content creators and enhances the audience experience in cinematic presentations.

    Dolby Atmos Digital Cinema Package content. The Dolby CP950 supports a maximum of 16 channels. The CP950A supports a maximum of 64 channels. You can mix analog and digital outputs, but you cannot exceed the maximum number of channels.

In addition, if you use crossovers, you cannot split the output of a speaker between analog and digital.

    1.3.2 CP950A CAT1710 media block board The CAT1710 is a media block board in a CP950A. This board expands the capabilities of a CP950 from 16 channels to 64 channels and can decrypt and render Dolby Atmos content. Use of a CAT1710 requires a CAT1741 power supply and the loading of an enablement (license) to unlock Dolby Atmos playback.

    1.3.3 CAT1740 and CAT1741 AC input The CP950 uses a CAT1740 power supply module to supply power to the unit. The input is a simple unswitched IEC power inlet module that is typically used in computers. The CAT1740 power supply supports 100-240 VAC and draws 0.64-0.30 Amps.

    To avoid heat and hum problems, do not mount the Dolby CP950/CP950A immediately above or below power amplifiers. Always leave a 1U space (43 mm, or 1.75 inch) above and below the Dolby CP950/CP950A to provide adequate ventilation. We recommend connecting the adapter to the DCP-2K4, and then connecting the Ethernet cables to the CP950/CP950A.

    3.1 Connecting to the Dolby CP950 or CP950A After you install the Dolby CP950 or CP950A and configure the network settings, connect your computer to the unit. Note that the CP950A performs internal networking on a network with an IP address range of 172.16.x.x.

    3.1.2 Active macro field In this field, you can select the desired macro to use for your input source. The Dolby CP950 and CP950A require macros to process audio. You can use the default macros that are provided with the system, or you can create your own macros.

    The equalization screen enables you to calibrate the CP950/CP950A to reproduce audio in a unique auditorium sound field. You can do this as a stand-alone operation in the Dolby CP950/CP950A web client, or in conjunction with Dolby Atmos Designer (DAD) version 3.3.7 or later. DAD is a separate application that allows advanced users to configure speakers, crossovers, outputs, amplifiers, and so on.

This tool displays an interface that provides users with the ability to utilize the one-twelfth octave capabilities of the Dolby CP950/ CP950A equalizer.     When you click on this icon, it expands to show the speakers that share this positional data. 3.4.1 Configuring a room You can configure a room using predefined room configurations (CP950 in standard 5.1 or Dolby Surround 7.1 rooms) or Dolby Atmos Designer (DAD). You should always configure CP950A Dolby Atmos rooms with DAD.

This is the most efficient method for connecting to other digital devices, for example, a Dolby Multichannel Amplifier or Dolby DAC3202 using AES67.

The Dolby CP950/CP950A and any downstream devices in the auditorium should use the same exact IP address.
