The H PD ® U s er D ata I /O P or t allow s XML for m atte d infor m ation , ref err ed to in th is man ual as XML fi les,
to be r elayed to a nd fr om a remot e P C l ocation and a Test S et. Ea ch XML file conta ins pr ocessing
instr uction s, a timesta mp , and MAC hea der and MA C data blocks. When the PC and Test Se t ar e
connect ed, th e Test S et sen ds any valid r eceived H PD ® data t o the P C in XML fo rmat. The P C r eceives
the XML file, wh ich can be saved to a f ile, edited and re- tra nsmitted to the Test Set , or del eted.
Rece ived X M L fi les can only be view ed w hen a view ing applicat ion h as been insta lled o n th e PC .

To use the U s er Dat a I/O Por t, the P C and the T est Set must be oper ati ng o n t he same l ocal netw ork
via an Et hern et cab le. Once equ ipment is conne cted, XML files can be tr ansmitte d to and from the
PC and the Test Set . In t his conf igur ation , th e Test Se t f unction s as a TC P socket "se rver " an d the
PC app lication fun c tions as a T CP "cl ient. " The port number used by t he Te st S et i s 2222.
