8. INTEGRATED DECT BASE STATION MC 6241
The DECT base station is connected to MC 6500 PBXs via a S0 bus using two twisted
pairs and a third pair for synchronization if necessary. This S0 bus is connected to an ISDN
S0 interface card in the PBX.

GENERAL
The DECT radio base station MC 6241 is housed in a plastic shell. Do not apply paint to the
shell unless you have received written agreement from Marta Nortel Communications.
The DECT radio base station MC 6241 can manage two or four radio channels.
For 2/4 channel compatibility, use a base station with index reference RB1734E or later.
2-channel radio base station
The connection interfaces for 2-channel radio base stations must be configured in S0
mode, with the remote power supply in service.
4-channel radio base station
Signal processing functions for this radio base station are performed remotely in the PBX.
In this case, the S0 interface transports four 32 Kb/s ADPCM coded communications as
well as the 16 Kb/s signaling channel.
Four-channel base stations require ADPCM daughter cards to be fitted on the PBX
interface cards. These cards provide ADPCM encoding/decoding thereby allowing
transmission of two DECT channels in the S0 interface B channel.
The connection interfaces must be configured in S0 mode, with the 48 V remote power
supply in service.
