Regularly inspectthe exhaust duct to be sure it has
not been crushed or otherwise restricted.
Donot useheatto dry articlescontainingrubber,
plastic,or similarmaterials
(such as padded bras,
tennis shoes, galoshes,bath mats, rugs, bibs, baby
pants, plastic bags, etc.) as these materials may
melt or burn. Also, some rubber materials, when
heated, can under certain circumstancesproduce
fire by spontaneouscombustion.
Do not store items that may burn or melt (such
as clothing, paper material, plastics or plastic
containers,etc.) on top of the dryer during
the operation.
Garmentslabeled"Dry Awayfrom Heat" (such
as lifejackets containingKapok)must not be
put in your dryer.
Donot washor dry articlesthat have been
cleanedin, washedin, soakedin, or spotted
with combustibleor explosivesubstances(such
as wax,paint, gasoline,degreasers,dry-cleaning
solvents,kerosene,etc.)whichmay igniteor
explode.Donot add thesesubstancesto the
washwater.Donot use thesesubstancesaround
your washerantior dryer during operation.
DONOT
place items exposedto cookingoils in
your dryer.Items contaminatedwith cookingoils
may contributeto a chemicalreactionthat could
cause a clothesload to catch fire.
Any article on which you have used a cleaning
solvent,or which containsflammable materials
(such as cleaning cloths, mops, towels used in
beauty salons, restaurantsor barber shops, etc.)
must not be placed in or near the dryer until all
traces of these flammable liquids or solids and
their fumes have been removed. There are many
highly tlamrnable items used in homes such as:
acetone, denatured alcohol, gasoline, kerosene,
some householdcleaners, some spot removers,
tu~entines, waxes, wax removers and products
containingpetroleumdistillates.
Keepthe area around and underneath your
appliancesfree from the accumulationof
combustiblematerials,
such as lint, paper, rags,
chemicals, etc.
The interior of the machineand the exhaust
duct connectioninsidethe drver shouldbe
cleanedperiodicallyby a qualifiedindividual.
The laundry processcan reducethe flame
retardancy of fabrics.
To avoid such a result,
garment manufacturer'scare instructionsshould be
followed very carefully.
