6. Remove the oil filter with a filter
wrench and let the remaining oil drain
out. Make sure the prior seal is not
stuck to the engine.
Discard the oil and oil filter at an
u
approved recycling centre.

7. Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the
rubber seal of a new oil filter.
8. Install the new oil filter and tighten.
Torque: 26 N·m (2.7 kgf·m, 19 lbf·ft)
9. Install new sealing
GL1800BD/DA
washers onto the drain bolt A, drain
bolt B and drain bolt C. Tighten the
drain bolts to the specified torque.
Install new sealing washer
GL1800/B
onto the drain bolt. Tighten the drain
bolt to the specified torque.
Torque:
GL1800BD/DA:
Drain bolt A:
30 N·m (3.1 kgf·m, 22 lbf·ft)
Drain bolt B:
30 N·m (3.1 kgf·m, 22 lbf·ft)
Drain bolt C:
30 N·m (3.1 kgf·m, 22 lbf·ft)
GL1800/B:
Drain bolt:
30 N·m (3.1 kgf·m, 22 lbf·ft)

10. Fill the crankcase with the
recommended oil ( P. 159, 253, 255)

and install the oil fill cap.
Required oil:
GL1800BD/DA:
When changing oil & engine oil
filter:
4.6 litres (4.9 US qt, 4.0 Imp qt)
When changing oil only:
4.4 litres (4.6 US qt, 3.9 Imp qt)
GL1800/B:
When changing oil & engine oil
filter:
3.7 litres (3.9 US qt, 3.3 Imp qt)
When changing oil only:
3.5 litres (3.7 US qt, 3.1 Imp qt)
