Energy saving tips

– Make sure that the bottoms of pots or
pans either match the size of the
burner or are somewhat larger. This
ensures that heat from the burner is
not wasted.
– Whenever possible, keep pots and
pans covered while cooking. Doing
so will prevent unnecessary heat loss.
– For small quantities, select a small
pan. A small pan on a small burner
uses less energy than a large, only
partially filled pan on a large burner.
– Cook with as little water as possible.
– Once food has come to a boil or the
pan is hot for frying, reduce the heat
to a lower power setting.
– When cooking for a longer amount of
time, turn the burner off at least 5 to
10 minutes before the end of the
cooking time. This makes use of the
residual heat.
– Use a pressure cooker to reduce the
cooking time.
