Setting speakers and
their sizes
• You can set connected
speakers and their sizes
manually.
• Different ranges are played
by different speakers. Size
setting is necessary for
reproducing sources,
particularly their bass
section, completely.

Setting distances

• By adjusting the distance
from each speaker (except
the subwoofer) to the
seating area, the sound
delay time is automatically
adjusted so that sound
reaches the listener at the
same time.
Setting the lowpass
filter
• If the speaker sizes (above)
are set to "SMALL", make
this setting.
• The unit cannot reproduce the
entire bass range when speakers
are set as "SMALL ". You can
arrange the unit to provide missing
bass sounds through the
subwoofer by setting the lowpass
filter frequency according to
frequencies available for playback.
1 Select and confirm the choice.
2 Select a speaker for setting and
confirm the choice.
3 Change a setting and confirm the
choice.
To go back to step 1
Select and confirm the choice.
When you set the front speakers (LR) as "LARGE "
• The subwoofer also makes audio output in the
bass range when you perform stereo playback
of analog and PCM sources.
• The subwoofer sends out only the LFE (low
frequency effect channel) signal contained in
2-channel Dolby Digital or DTS sources when
you play them in stereo.
Note
• Set the lowpass filter frequency according to frequencies available for playback when speakers
are set as "SMALL ". The factory setting is 80 Hz. (below)
• The following are set automatically.
When you set "LR " to "SMALL ", "SUBW " is set to "YES ".
When you set "SUBW " to "NO ", "LR " is set to "LARGE ".
• "SB " does not appear when "S " is set to "NONE ".
• The "SB " size becomes the "S " size because the unit does not offer "SB " size setting.
• When you change the number of connected speakers, settings made with the setup microphone
are canceled. (á pages 24 and 25)
1 Select and confirm the choice.
2 Select a speaker for setting and
confirm the choice.
3 Select a distance and confirm the
choice.
Note
• Speakers whose polarity was automatically adjusted through the auto speaker setup using the
setup microphone are displayed with "– " such as "L 10.0 – ".
• When the speaker distance measured through the auto speaker setup (á pages 24 and 25)
exceeds 45 feet (15 meters), the distance is displayed as "OVER ".
1 Select and confirm the choice.
2 Select the lowpass filter frequency
and confirm the choice.
Note
The setting made through these steps applies to all speakers set as "SMALL ".
