Handling Precautions Handling the fresh water cooling system of the above engines will be described here. Fresh water tank capacity Model Capacity 2 QM 20 F 6.0 liters 2 QM 20 Y 3 QM 30 F 6.9 liters 3 QM 30 Y Remove the cap from the fresh water cooler, and check the water level.
  • Page 33 Removing the filter cap Do not attempt to remove the water filter cap at the top of the fresh water tank while the engine is running, or while the engine is still hot after it has been stopped; otherwise, steam will escape and may cause serious injury. If removal of the filter cap is unavoidable, place a piece of cloth over the cap and turn the cap slowly, being sure that you will be safe even if the steam escapes.
  • Page 34 Cleaning the heat exchanger pipe If the heat exchanger pipe through which the raw water flows becomes extremely dirty, the cooling affect deteriorate. If the C.W. warning lamp lights periodically when the engine is run at the rated output, clean the pipe in the heat exchanger with a cleaning agent and then flush the accumulated scale produced by cooling the raw water from the pipe.
  • Page 35 Installation and maintenance of clean water sub-tank (Special order item) When the temperature of the cooling water inside the clean water tank rises, it eventually turns to steam and escapes to the outside atmosphere. If a sub-tank is combined with the clean water tank, steam from the clean water tank will be restored to hot water, thus considerably reducing the consumption of cooling water.
