Chapter 1. Introduction 1.1 Purpose of Manual This manual provides the basic instructions on the operation of the Exacom Model: Ears Digital Voice Recorders Series. It is designed to be a comprehensive guide f or installation and maintenance personnel covering installation procedures, maintenance steps and other technical matters. In addition, it provides detailed inf ormation on the f eatures and operation of the Ears.
Ears Analog to VoIP/RoiP Acquisition Module 4-Channel Digital Voice Recorder The Exacom model Ears Digital Voice Recorders Series uniquely addresses applications requiring a one (1) to f our (4) channel Recorder, such as would be used by public saf ety 911 and related dispatch centers.
If the version is unknown it will report “vUnk”, which means the unit has likely been tampered with, as all Exacom f irmware correctly report a version number when ECO’d. Binary reports the contents of the /opt/ears/bin directory, where all the compiled code resides.
Appendix C – Configuration overview All data required to load an Ears-104 is contained in a pair of conf iguration f iles, with ears.conf being the customer-f acing f ile where all site-specif ic setup resides. Conf iguration def ines a number of labelled objects and their relationship to each other, using the object label.
