BASIC AMMONIA DETECTOR – NH3000
FORENSICS DETECTORS
INTRODUCTION
You have purchased the Basic Ammonia NH3 Detector,
Meter and Analyzer by FORENSICS. The detector is
FACTORY calibrated, just turn ON and GO. This detector is
perfect for farm use to help livestock wellness, feed
optimization and waste management. This product detects
Ammonia gas and provides alarm functionality. Ammonia
is a toxic gas that requires continuous detection
particularly in occupational spaces for humans and safety
for animals, livestock and pets. The Permissible Exposure
Limit for ammonia set by OSHA is 50 parts per million
(ppm) averaged over an eight hour workday. The NIOSH
Recommended Exposure Limit (REL) for ammonia is 25
ppm averaged over an eight-hour workday. NIOSH also
says that there should be a Short Term Exposure Limit
(STEL) of 35 ppm during any 15-minute period in the day.
OPERATION
The NH3 sensor is located on the back topside of the
detector. When NH3 molecules are exposed to the sensor,
the sensor electrically detects these molecules and
displays the "parts per million (ppm)" ambient NH3
concentration on the detector's LCD display.
ON/OFF: Press
GREEN ON/OFF
detector immediately detects ambient NH3 gas
concentration and displays NH3 ppm concentration.
BACKLIGHT: Press
SUN SYMBOL
HOLD: Press HOLD button to record current displayed
NH3 concentration.
MAX: Recalls maximum NH3 value detected (memory),
press again to toggle back to instantaneous level.
BATTERY: Battery icon will display when battery is LOW.
AUTO-OFF: Detector automatically shuts down to preserve
battery life when no button is pressed over 15 minutes.
