Mounting the PX MultiSensor Mk2 on the trawl gear Installation on the trawl door Typical measurements from the doors are Spread, Pitch and Roll, and Height. Other useful measurements are Depth and Temperature. The sensor can also be the “remote” device for Geometry and Spread measurements.
Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Installation on the clump Place the sensor pointing to the trawl to be the remote device for Geometry and Spread measurements. If you want to know the spread measurement between the port door and the clump, the down transducer element must point to the port door.If your sensor is...
Mounting the PX MultiSensor Mk2 on the trawl gear Installation on the headrope Place the sensor behind the headrope to know the Height and Geometry measurements. Other useful measurements from this location are Roll and Pitch. When equipped with a Depth/Temp.
Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Mounting the PX MultiSensor Mk2 on a purse seine Due to its size, we do not recommend using the PX MultiSensor Mk2 on this location. 454200/A...
Configuring a PX sensor Configuring a PX sensor Each individual sensor can be configured to specify its communication channel, which measurements to make and some other relevant operating parameters. Please note that this is a generic procedure. Prerequisites When configuration is required, connect the sensor to a computer running the TV80 and/or PX Configurator programs by means of the PX Configurator cable..
Page 22
Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual When a sensor is mounted on a trawl door, the pitch and roll measurements may need to be calibrated. 12 Select to transfer the chosen parameters to the sensor. Program Sensor 13 Disconnect the sensor from the interface cable and the computer.
Calibration Calibration Topics First time roll and pitch calibration of a PX sensor, page 21 Manually entering the known pitch and roll calibration values of a sensor on the trawl door, page 22 First time roll and pitch calibration of a PX sensor If you want your sensor to measure the pitch and roll of the trawl doors, you must calibrate it.
Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Once the door is stable in the tilted position, select Tilted 10 Select to accept the values. We recommend you to write down the relevant values for each door, in case you need them when you change doors or sensors.

Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Maintenance during normal use Regular maintenance of the PX MultiSensor Mk2 will reward you with a long product life. Context The charger sockets on PX catch monitoring sensors offer a fail-safe method for the battery charger connection.
Use and maintenance • Pressurized air • Clean and lint free cloth • Small brush or cotton swab Procedure Use high pressure air and direct the nozzle into each of the socket. Blow out water and moisture. Use a small brush or a cotton swab and clean each socket thoroughly. Wipe off the sensor with a dry lint free cloth.
Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Inspection and replacement of the brass screw You must inspect the sacrificial water switch (brass screw) every month. Prerequisites The following items are required. • AquaShield • Brass screw Context The sensor is equipped with a sacrificial brass water switch.
Use and maintenance Charging the sensor battery Every PX family sensor is equipped with a custom made Li-Ion battery. The PX MultiSensor Charger is especially designed for charging this battery. Normal charging time for a fully depleted sensor battery is approximately four hours. Important Never charge a sensor when it is mounted in the door adapter or on the trawl.

Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Observe that the colour of the indicator lamp on the charger changes to Green when fully charged. Normal charging time for a fully depleted sensor battery is approximately four hours. Unplug the charger from the AC mains, then disconnect the charger plug from the sensor body.
Use and maintenance Checking if the sensor charges properly Every PX family sensor is equipped with a custom made Li-Ion battery. The PX MultiSensor Charger is especially designed for charging this battery. Procedure Make sure that the ambient temperature is between 0 and +45°C (+32 to +113°F). If you try to charge the sensor in ambient temperatures below 0°C (32 °F), an internal safety mechanism will prevent the charging.
Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Measuring the output voltages from the PX MultiSensor Charger A defective charger can damage the sensor causing its bad performance. We recommend that you use one dedicated charger for each sensor. The operation of the PX MultiSensor Charger can be verified by means of a standard multimeter.

Use and maintenance Note dialog box can only be used with SR type receiver units: Spectrum • SR15 • SR70 Procedure On the processor unit desktop, double-click the TV80 icon to start the program. Open the menu. Setup On the menu, select to open the dialog box.
Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Checking the sensors readings The TV80 offers the dialog box to identify the latest readings sent by all Measurements the sensors installed and the quality of these readings. Prerequisites The TV80 has been set up with its hardware units connected as specified by the relevant installation instructions.
Use and maintenance Checking the offset values for every measurement If the offset parameter is not defined correctly for some measurements, you can get confusing readings from the sensor. Prerequisites The TV80 has been set up with its hardware units connected as specified by the relevant installation instructions.
Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Verifying the value defined for the blanking zone When the value for the height measurement presents an incorrect and continuous reading, it may be indicating that the blanking zone parameter is not correctly set up.
Use and maintenance Checking the range setting of a measurement When a catch monitoring sensor takes a measurement outside the range values defined, it will not be displayed or will present an exception value. Prerequisites The TV80 has been set up with its hardware units connected as specified by the relevant installation instructions.
Simrad PX MultiSensor Mk2 Instruction Manual Troubleshooting When dealing with wireless catch monitoring sensors you may experience some bad readings, or no readings at all. There are some checkings you can do before calling the support department. To do some of these tests you may need: •...
