FRONT AND REAR BRAKES

DISASSEMBLING THE BRAKE CALIPERS

NOTE:
Before disassembling the front brake caliper or
rear brake caliper, drain the brake fluid of the
brake hoses, brake pipe, master cylinder,
brake caliper, and brake fluid reservoir.
Front brake caliper
1.Remove:
Front wheel
G
Refer to "FRONT WHEEL AND FRONT
BRAKE" in CHAPTER 6.
(Manual No.: 2XJ-ME1)
2.Loosen:
Union bolt
G
3.Remove:
Front brake caliper
G
Retaining bolts
G
Brake pads
G
(with pad shim)
Pad spring
G
Refer to "REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS".
4.Remove:
Union bolt 1
G
Copper washers 2
G
Brake hose 3
G
NOTE:
Place the open end of the hose into a con-
tainer and pump the brake fluid out carefully.
5.Remove:
Caliper body 1
G
Caliper bracket 2
G
NOTE:
Before removing the caliper body from the
bracket, remove the dust boot from the guide
shaft on the bracket.
