GETTING STARTED Making your own baby food is actually a very simple process. You can easily prepare a week’s worth of food in just minutes. It all comes down to three simple steps: PREP - Includes selecting, washing, peeling, cutting, and cooking (if needed) the fresh ingredients for your baby’s food.
STEP 1 - PREP Select a recipe from your baby’s current Stage. The recipes in this book will indicate with icons which components you will need to use. The Steam Basket The Steam Basket fits into the Batch Bowl. Seal Batch Bowl bottom with lid from short cup before adding chopped veggies and water.

Tips for Introducing Solid Foods Readiness Cues Is your little one ready to begin eating solids? Look for these cues: At least 4 to 6 months in age. Birth weight has doubled. Can sit with support and hold head steady. Loss of tongue thrust reflex, allowing baby to swallow food.

In order to insert & seat the gasket properly, we recommend as follows: 1) Make sure blade housing is completely dry - particularly in the gasket groove. 2) Insert the gasket with the flat side down toward the groove. 3) Using the tip of a spoon or something similar, press into the concave side of the gasket into the gasket groove.
FOOD ALLERGIES Some foods carry a higher allergy risk than others. There are some foods that should be introduced later, and some that should be avoided completely for the first year. The stage system introduces lower risk foods first, and gradually adds more foods to your baby’s diet.

THE 4 DAY RULE All foods have some risk of causing an allergic reaction. Each time you add a new food to your baby’s diet, wait at least 4 days before adding another. During this time watch for symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Stage Three 9 months and up In Stage Three, thicken the texture and consistency of your baby’s food. Try out the pulse technique described on page 14 to create chunkier purées. Gradually, your little one will transition to table foods. Keep in mind as you make this transition, foods still need to be soft enough to be mashed by gums since your baby does not have molars yet.
