  • Page 12 Getting started Removing the S Pen When you remove the S Pen from the slot, the device launches Air command or displays the air command features depending on the S Pen detachment option setting. To change the setting, open the Apps screen and tap Settings → S Pen → Detachment options.

    SIM card slot, take the device to a Samsung Service Centre to remove the memory card. • U se caution not to lose or let others use the SIM or USIM card. Samsung is not responsible for any damages or inconveniences caused by lost or stolen cards.

Use only Samsung-approved chargers, batteries, and cables. Unapproved chargers or cables can cause the battery to explode or damage the device.

    Getting started Formatting the memory card A memory card formatted on a computer may not be compatible with the device. Format the memory card on the device. On the Home screen, tap Apps → Settings → Storage → SD card → Format → FORMAT. Before formatting the memory card, remember to make backup copies of all important data stored in the device.

    Getting started Locking and unlocking the screen Pressing the Power button turns off the screen and locks it. Also, the screen turns off and automatically locks if the device is not used for a specified period. To unlock the screen, press the Power button or the Home button and flick your finger in any direction within the unlock screen area.

    Basics Using the touch screen • D o not allow the touch screen to come into contact with other electrical devices. Electrostatic discharges can cause the touch screen to malfunction. • T o avoid damaging the touch screen, do not tap it with anything sharp or apply excessive pressure to it with your fingertips.

    Basics Home screen layout Home screen The Home screen is the starting point for accessing all of the device’s features. It displays widgets, shortcuts to apps, and more. Widgets are small apps that launch specific app functions to provide information and convenient access on your Home screen. To view other panels, scroll left or right, or tap one of the screen indicators at the bottom of the screen.

  • Page 26 Basics Apps screen The Apps screen displays icons for all apps, including newly installed apps. On the Home screen, tap Apps to open the Apps screen. To view other panels, scroll left or right, or select a screen indicator at the bottom of the screen. To customise the Apps screen, refer to Managing the Apps screen.

    Basics Power saving feature Power saving mode Save the battery power by limiting the device’s functions. On the Apps screen, tap Settings → Battery → Power saving mode, and then tap the switch to activate it. To automatically activate power saving mode when the remaining battery power reaches the preset level, tap Start power saving and select an option.

    S Pen features Action memo Open the Action memo pad and create memos to perform various actions using the written or drawn information. On the air command panel, tap Action memo. Write or draw a memo. Tap MORE → Link to action. The entire memo will be selected.
