5. Check the distance from bottom of slot in nut
to inside edge of hole. Two threads or less
should be showing (Figure 46).
6. If more than two threads are showing remove
nut and install washer between hub and nut.
7. Torque the slotted nut to 125 ft-lb. (170 N⋅m)
(Figure 46).
8. Tighten the nut until the next set of slots line
up with the hole in the shaft (Figure 46).
9. Replace the cotter pin.
Adjusting the Caster Pivot
Bearing
Check after every 500 operating hours or at
storage, which ever comes first.
1. Disengage the PTO, move the motion control
levers to the neutral locked position and set
the parking brake.
2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for
all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
3. Remove the dust cap from caster and tighten
lock nut (Figure 47).

4. Tighten the locknut until the spring washers
are flat and then back off a 1/4 turn to properly
set the pre-load on the bearings (Figure 47).
Important: Make sure spring washers
are installed correctly as shown in
Figure 47.
5. Install the dust cap (Figure 47).

Before each use, check and clean engine screen
and oil cooler. Remove any build-up of grass, dirt
or other debris from the oil cooler screen and
engine screen (Figure 48 and Figure 49).
