PF3000P USER INSTRUCTIONS Please read these instructions and then store them in a safe place for future reference. The respirator must be fitted and used in accordance with these instructions to obtain the approved level of performance. CAUTIONS • For adequate protection this respirator must fit or be adjusted to the size of the user’s head.
Page 7
PF3000P • DO NOT HOLD OR SUSPEND THE RESPIRATOR BY THE HEADBAND OR FACE SEAL. • DO NOT WEAR THE RESPIRATOR IF THE AIR FLOW IS SWITCHED OFF. • AT VERY HIGH WORK RATES THE PRESSURE IN THE DEVICE MAY BECOME NEGATIVE AT PEAK INHALATION FLOW.
PF3000P GENERAL DESCRIPTION The respirator must be fitted and used in accordance with these instructions to obtain the approved level of performance. APPROVED PUREFLO® 3000 PARTS MUST BE USED. The PureFlo®3000 respirator box contains the following items: Item Description Part Number Powered Air Respirator module (TH3P)*.
PF3000P APPROVAL FOR USE This product has been shown to meet the requirements of Annex V of the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and is manufactured in accordance with Annex VIII Module D, and thus is CE marked. Annex V and VIII assessments conducted by BSI Netherlands. (Notified Body Number: 2797) Product assessed against the requirements of the following standards: Respiratory Protection...
PF3000P SUITABILITY FOR USE This respirator must be used strictly in accordance with these instructions. When using the approved PureFlo® filter, the workplace concentrations of the vapour must not exceed the O.E.L. (Occupational Exposure Limit). Intended for use against dusts, mists and aerosols. Available air filtration options: - Pre-filter PF3000-04-005 - Odour pre-filter PF3000-04-004...
PF3000P PREPARATION FOR USE The following tasks must be performed prior to use: Battery charging Only charge the battery in a safe area free from sources of flame and sparks, temperature between +5°C and +40°C. NOTE: Do not use mains supply and 12V supply at the same time. If using mains electricity to charge the battery, use the appropriate power cable relating to country of use.
Page 13
PF3000P Insert the battery as shown in Figure 2. Ensure the battery fully ‘clicks’ into position. For more information check ‘TROUBLESHOOTING’ section on page 33. NOTE: It is normal for the battery and charger to get warm during use. Figure 2 Observe the status indicator LEDs.
PF3000P When to recharge Do not force the PAPR/Unit to restart after auto-shut down following a low battery alarm. Doing so may ‘deep discharge’ the battery, which will permanently reduce available capacity. Recharging a battery at the end of each day’s use, even if the battery is not fully discharged, will help prolong the life of the battery.
PF3000P Battery installation and removal Remove battery by pushing lightly on the release area indicated. (Figure 4) Figure 4 Observing the orientation as shown in Figure 5 install a fully charged battery into the respirator until the battery fully clicks into position. Figure 5 PREPARATION FOR USE...
PF3000P HEPA filter fitting and checking the respirator Ensure that the high efficiency particulate (HEPA) filter is installed correctly as shown in Figure 6 When fitting the filter element into the filter housing, observe that the filter label faces upwards as worn. Then applying firm pressure, click to engage the filter housing with the two filter latches.
Page 17
PF3000P Correct positions of filters: 1. Housing 2. Odour / Pre-filter 3. HEPA filter Figure 8 Check that the air inlet is clean and free from any obstructions. (Figure 9) Figure 9 Activate the respirator with the on/off switch as shown in Figure 10, noting the LED display.
PF3000P If the respirator is working correctly, status indicator LED (Figure 11(1)) will illuminate green. The respirator is then ready to use. If status indicator LED is RED proceed to ‘Troubleshooting’ section on page 33. Figure 11 Low airflow indicator check Before using the respirator perform a low airflow indicator check: 1.
PF3000P WEARING AND USING Fitting the respirator To achieve an optimal level of respirator performance, follow the fitting instructions below. CROWN STRAP ADJUSTMENT Before first use, adjust the crown height by adjusting the crown strap following Figure 12 - Figure 15. Release the headband mounts from the 4 attachment posts in the respirator frame (Figure 12)
Page 20
PF3000P Unfasten and remove the crown pad to access the adjustment straps. (Figure 14) Figure 14 Adjust the length of the strap as required ensuring that the four locations pegs are within the highlighted EN397 range of adjustment (Figure 15). This position will ensure correct head ventilation for the product.
PF3000P QUICK RELEASE HEADBAND ADJUSTMENT For comfort and security, the quick release headband must be adjusted each time prior to entering the work environment. (Figure 16) Modify the headband size using the headband adjuster: • To tighten - rotate the adjuster clockwise.
PF3000P Activating respirator Switch the respirator on using the on/off switch. (Figure 18) Figure 18 WARNING: DO NOT USE THE RESPIRATOR if LED status indicator illuminates RED. Refer to ‘Troubleshooting’ section on page 33. Status indicator (LED) (All filter types) When LED (Figure 19) illuminates green it indicates that respirator is in a useable condition.
PF3000P The following indications are given when switching on the respirator: LED light Condition Green Starting sequence – investigation required. Respirator is NOT USABLE. Respirator is in a useable condition Table 5 The following warnings may be given during operation: LED light Condition Green...

PF3000P Replacing the comfort pads Brow pad Remove brow comfort pad by pulling away from the `hook and loop` retaining strip. Place the new brow pad onto the `hook and loop` strip. Ensure the brow pad is placed centrally to the front of the headband so that it sits equally left and right to the user’s head.
PF3000P Brow infill removal and installation The infill is positioned at the front of the respirator between the headband and the frame with the concussion straps (if fitted) located inside, relative to the infill. Remove the brow infill by turning respirator upside down to gain access to the headband.
Page 30
PF3000P Remove adhesive tape backing strip then place the infill inside the respirator frame and position under the headband and, if fitted, above the concussion straps. (Figure 29) Figure 29 Push the infill in between the headband and the frame ensuring the infill is pushed up to the edge of the headband and it sits onto the frame.
PF3000P High efficiency particulate air filter replacement When the status indicator LED illuminates RED, further investigation is required regarding condition of a filter and a battery. If no fault on battery has been found, the high efficiency particulate (HEPA) filter must be replaced. Install a new HEPA filter as shown in Figure 31-Figure 35 and Figure 6-Figure 7on page 15.
Page 32
PF3000P NOTE: Do not allow any dirt or elements, which may obstruct the air flow to enter the air inlet. (Figure 34) Figure 34 Make sure that the HEPA filter is fitted correctly into a filter cover housing with filter label facing upwards as fitted to the respirator.
