    Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Users can place Internet calls to a remote IP1200 and via it to the remote PSTN. Moreover users can also place Internet calls directly to PSTN networks. IP1200 is an outstanding gateway delivering the new way of communications.

Supported by DSG Global Internet Telephony Network, IP1200 provides an immediate connection to worldwide regular phone users as well as any users of DSG VoIP devices, InterPhone, IPStar and InterStar.

InterPhone is a full-featured Ethernet Key Phone. Terminology In this manual, there are some terminologies you might not be acquainted with.     Chapter 2 Installing Your IP1200 For 8-port IP1200, open TCP 1100 port and UDP 1101-1108 ports. Note: Misplacing FXO equipment into FXS interface and vice versa may damage IP1200. Be sure that the FXO/FXS interfaces are connected to the adequate telephone lines and equipment.

    With these easy steps, the IP1200 is ready to use in no time. Before You Start To use IP1200 as a VoIP gateway, you need to subscribe an Internet access line from your local ISP. It could be xDSL, Cable Modem access or Leased Line. You will need the following information to set up your IP1200.

    IP1200, it is recommended that you assign a static and real IP address to IP1200. If you assign pseudo IP address to IP1200, you need to open the TCP and UDP ports for the IP address assigned to IP1200 from your router.

    After the prompt displays New DNS (press ESC to exit):, input the DNS Address information <xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx> and then press ENTER. Note: IP1200 has a preset DNS address as 168.95.1.1. Unless your ISP requires a specific DNS Address, you may keep the default setting.

    ITSP Account item. Note: The default account to store calling points is the Device ID Number preset in IP1200. You may ask your distributor to credit the default account so you can use it instantly. You may also send a mail to sales@dsg.com.tw for more information.

    When you use PBX, an interval will occur between dialing the CO line access code and getting an outgoing line. If your IP1200 or Remote IP1200 is connected to a PBX, you might need to send a pulse signal to generate a pause so as to provide the interval.

    To call a remote InterStar, you can also choose to dial the InterStar’s Device ID Number directly when you are in ITSP Mode, instead of using the Dial Plan. First make sure your IP1200 is in ITSP Mode, and the remote InterStar is on the Internet.

    After the prompt displays New FXO Password (digits, press ESC to exit):, input the password <xx...> and then press ENTER. Note: The maximum length of the password is 10 digits. If you leave it as blank, anyone can access to IP1200 from PSTN without a password.

    Authorized Devices Setup You can set a list of DSG VoIP devices and authorize them to get connected to your IP1200. This will prevent your IP1200 from being used by unauthorized devices. The DSG VoIP devices might include IP1200, IP1000, InterStar, InterPhone or IPStar.

    Chapter 3 Configuring Your IP1200 Port Configurations This item allows you to enable, disable specific ports when they are broken. You can also view the duration of an activated call and the total number of calls been connected since power on.

    The busy tone signal is an indication of the end of a conversation or unavailability of the remote party. By tuning the busy tone parameters, you can allow IP1200 to detect the busy tones more precisely for efficiently disconnecting phone calls. This section covers the hang up issues associated with various regional POTS and PBX systems interoperating with IP1200.
