I have tried cleaning the undercarriage of my Ryobi 21-inch battery powered lawn mower with a dry rag. The dirt under neath does not come off. What can I do?

Have a 21 inch RYOBI 401014 self-propelled mower I prefer to push. After about 10 minutes, something appears to lock or click and then the mower gets very hard to push. I am not using the self-propelled feature, in order to extend battery time. I have another identical unit purchased a year earlier (that's subject to the recall) that never had this problem. It seems as though the unit stops freewheeling and goes into gear mode without activating the self-propel feature. How does this get fixed? Thank you.

If the Ryobi RY401014 self-propelled mower becomes hard to push after 10 minutes, check the following:

1. Self-Propel Levers: Ensure the self-propel levers are fully engaged. If not, the mower will not assist with movement.

2. Cruise Control: Adjust the cruise control setting before engaging the self-propel feature for smoother operation.

3. Grass Buildup: Clean the underside of the mower deck. Grass clippings can stick and create resistance.

4. Cutting Height: Increase the cutting height. A low setting in thick or heavy grass can overload the mower.

5. Walking Speed: Reduce your walking speed when cutting heavy grass to allow proper discharge.
