TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDELINES

MOTOR DOES NOT TURN OR DOES NOT TURN BOTH WAYS
1. Poor connection
– Verify if there are loose connections both at the solenoid location and at the
winch itself.
– Check for broken wires.
– Check for corrosion.
2. Defective winch remote button.
– Contact an authorized Can-Am dealer to have switch replaced.
3. Contact breakers have tripped
– Allow several minutes to cool down before trying again.
4. Freespool is engaged
– Make sure to engage the brake so that the winch motor is coupled to the
drum.
MOTOR LACKS POWER
1. Weak battery
– Check fault message in cluster.
– Check battery connections and terminals condition.
– Have the battery checked by an authorized Can-Am dealer.
2. Motor is damaged
– Have the winch replaced.
MOTOR OVERHEATS
1. Winch was used for a long period.
– Allow motor and circuit breakers to cool down.
2. Motor is damaged
– Have the winch replaced.
WINCH WILL NOT RETAIN THE LOAD APPLIED
1. Load is above capacity
– Reduce load as much as possible.
– Use a block to double the line with a pulley block.
2. Internal brake damage
– Have the winch replaced.
