CAUTION
• While the machine is in operation, pay special
attention to the needle location. In addition,
keep your hands away from all moving parts
such as the needle and handwheel, otherwise
injuries may occur.
• Do not pull or push the fabric too hard while
sewing, otherwise injuries may occur or the
needle may break.
• Never use bent needles. Bent needles can
easily break, possibly resulting in injuries.
• Make sure that the needle does not strike
basting pins, otherwise the needle may break
or bend.

Selecting a stitch pattern

Memo
• For details on the types of stitches available, refer
to "Stitch Setting Chart" on page B-44.
Use a stitch pattern key to select the desired stitch. A stitch
pattern key has two stitch patterns.
Example:
1 Straight stitch (Left)
2 Overcasting stitch
To select the left stitch pattern printed on a key, press the key
once.

To select the right stitch pattern printed on a key, press the key
twice.

Sewing a stitch

Turn the main power to ON and press

reinforcement stitching and adjust the stitch length,

Install the presser foot.
• For details on changing the presser foot, refer to
"Replacing the Presser Foot" on page B-30.
Note
• When a stitch is selected, the icon for the
presser foot that should be used appears on the
screen. Check that the correct presser foot is
attached before starting to sew. If the wrong
presser foot is installed, attach the appropriate
presser foot.
