Your BT3960 phone may not be ringing or allowing you to dial out due to one or more of the following reasons:

1. Ringer Volume: The ringer volume might be turned down or off. To check, go to PERSONAL SET > HANDSET TONE > RING VOLUME and adjust it using the arrow buttons.

2. Do Not Disturb Mode: The Do Not Disturb feature may be turned on. Press the Do Not Disturb button to turn it off.

3. Power Issue: The handset may be turned off. Press and hold the red button to turn it on.

4. Line or Service Issue: If you cannot dial out, there may be an issue with your phone line or service provider.

5. Caller Display Requirement: Some features require a Caller Display subscription. If not active, certain call functions may not work.

6. Out of Guarantee or Faulty: If the phone is outside the 12-month guarantee or has a fault, check the full user guide for further steps.

A possible reason for no dial tone on the BT BT3960 is a fault with the phone, as some users reported the device started making a horrible noise and they could not make or receive calls.

To identify the number corresponding to a voicemail message on a BT BT3960, use the handset and access the ANSW MACHINE menu. From there, you can play recorded messages, and caller information (such as the number) is typically announced or displayed when the message plays.

The documents do not provide specific instructions for removing a busy signal when making a call on the BT3960. However, you can try the following general troubleshooting steps:

1. Check the phone line – Ensure the phone line is properly connected and not in use by another device.
2. Verify Do Not Disturb mode – If enabled, it may prevent calls. See page 22 of the manual.
3. Inspect call blocking settings – If the number is blocked, it may cause issues. See page 25.
4. Test a different phone socket – The issue could be with the phone line or socket.
5. Contact your network provider – If the problem persists, your service provider may need to check the line.

If you are a BT customer, you can call 0800 800 151 for further assistance.

Caller can not hear my voice and ringing out tone fuzzy

1 comments:
Mr. Anderson
March 18, 2025

The caller might not hear your voice if the mute function is enabled. During a call, pressing the mute button prevents your voice from being transmitted. To unmute, press the mute button again.

A fuzzy ringing tone could be due to interference or low handset volume settings. Check the handset ringer volume by navigating to PERSONAL SET > HANDSET TONE > RING VOLUME and adjust it accordingly. If interference is suspected, ensure the phone is not too close to other electronic devices.
