Double-click the Volume
window appears.

From the Options menu, click Properties. The Properties window appears.

In the Adjust volume for box, click the Recording option button to select it,
and then click OK. The Recording Control window appears.

If it is not already turned on, click the Select check box at the bottom of the
Microphone column. Close the Recording Control window.

Click Start on the taskbar, and select All Programs, Accessories,
Entertainment, and then Sound Recorder. The Sound - Sound Recorder
window appears.
You are ready to begin recording. For help using Sound Recorder, click Help in the
Sound Recorder window.

Adjusting the volume

You can adjust the volume for playing or recording, but you can only adjust the
recording volume in the Recording Control window. If you adjust the volume, the
adjustment is only effective for playing sound. It does not adjust the volume for
recording sound.
To adjust the volume when playing

Double-click Volume

In the Volume Control column, move the slider up for increased volume and
down for decreased volume.
