• Your microprocessor sockets and socket covers might look slightly different from the illustrations in this
topic.
• Do not touch the pins on the microprocessor socket or the gold contacts on the microprocessor.
Removal steps of system board
1. Remove the computer cover. See "Computer cover" on page 67.
2. Remove the Bottom cover. See "Bottom cover" on page 77.
3. To get access to the system board, remove the following parts if any:
a. "Hard disk drive and hard disk drive bracket" on page 69
b. "Internal speaker" on page 71
c. "System fan" on page 72
d. "Coin-cell battery" on page 73
e. "Wi-Fi card and Wi-Fi card shield" on page 75
f.
"Memory module" on page 78
g. "M.2 solid-state drive" on page 80
h. "Rear Wi-Fi antenna cable" on page 81
i.
"Front Wi-Fi antenna" on page 82
j.
"Antenna bracket" on page 83
k. "Heat sink" on page 84
l.
"Microprocessor" on page 85
4. Record the cable routing and cable connections, and then disconnect all cables from the system board.
See "System board" on page 55.
5. Remove the following screws that secure the system board, and then carefully lift the system board out
of the chassis.
Note: Carefully handle the system board by its edges.
