Plug and Power Cord Safety

Do NOT let the power cord (or any extension cord) hang over the edge of a table or
counter . Do NOT allow the power cord to touch hot surfaces . Arrange the power cord so
that it cannot be pulled on by children, become entangled, or tripped over .
Use extension cords with care . The marked electrical rating of an extension cord should be
at least as high as the rating of the kettle (see page 5) .
The kettle has a polarized plug (one prong is wider than the other), which fits into a
polarized outlet only one way . This is a safety feature to reduce the risk of electric shock .
If the plug does not fit, do NOT use the plug in that outlet . Do NOT bypass this safety
feature .
For additional protection, we recommend the use of a power outlet with a rated current
of 10 A . To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high-amperage appliance on the
same circuit .
