Instructions for use
Your ostomy, wound nurse or physician has advised you to start wearing a stoma belt. For optimal
care, the user should read these instructions carefully before applying the belt. This product is a
medical device and is intended for use by one person only.
Intended use of the product
The Stomy belt is mainly used postoperatively to support the abdominal wall and prevent the
formation of hernia and prolapse, for example during physical activities where pressure on the
abdominal wall is higher (sports, gardening, lifting, vacuuming, etc.). The Stomy belt offers the wearer
a high level of wearing comfort, a safe and secure feeling in daily life.
Applying belt
To wear the Stomy belt correctly, you should preferably apply the belt while lying down. In case of a
fracture, in many cases it will sink back into the abdomen and the belt provides counter pressure. This
way the fracture is optimally supported. The belt is closed in such a way that you can still slide your
hand in between. The belt is then sufficiently tight to provide support but still wears comfortably.
Fig. 1
The circumference of the abdomen must be
measured to select the correct size. Use the size
chart to determine which size is the best fit.
Fig. 2
Place the ostomy belt on the bed (or put it on
loosely) and lie down on it. Position the velour
side with the stoma opening over the stoma
pouch.
Fig. 3
Fold the bottom of the stoma pouch into a point
and feed it from the inside of the belt through
the stoma aperture, leaving the sticky side of the
pouch on the inside of the belt.
Fig. 4
Make sure that the stoma pouch is flat and
without folds and then place the end of the belt
over the abdomen.
Fig. 5
Now close the belt to the desired tension by
fixing the Velcro hook onto the velour.

After closing the belt, check whether it is still
possible to slide a hand between the belt and
the abdomen. If necessary, adjust the tension.
After applying you can stand up again.
Fig. 7 (optional)
You can choose to install an additional closure
underneath the stoma aperture for easy pouch
exchange without having to remove the belt first.
To do so, use a sharp pair of scissors to cut the
velour panel in a straight line, directly
underneath the stoma aperture. The material
does not fray.
Fig. 8
The belt is supplied with an additional Velcro
strip. Position it over the opening cut, to connect
the two parts. To change the pouch, lift it slightly
forward and pull one side of the strip to open.
Pull the sticky edge of the stoma pouch loose
from the skin and remove the pouch along the
bottom of the belt. To apply a new stoma bag,
follow the instructions as previously described
and re-attach the Velcro strip.
