Installation Procedure

1.
Remove the generator set from service.

Press the generator set OFF/RESET button to
shut down the generator set.
1.2
Disconnect the power to the battery charger, if
equipped.
1.3
Disconnect the power to the block heater, if
equipped.
1.4
Disconnect the generator set engine starting
battery(ies), negative (--) lead first.
1.5
Remove the coolant drain plug and allow the
coolant to drain completely. See Figure 3 for
coolant drain plug location.
Remove the pressure cap to allow the entire
system to drain and prevent air pockets from
restricting coolant flow through the engine block.
Note: Dispose of all waste materials (engine oil,
fuel, filter, etc.) in an environmentally safe
manner and in accordance with all
applicable laws.

Remove the belt guard, coolant recovery
tank, and dry exhaust elbow.
2.1
Remove the belt guard, belt guard brackets,
coolant recovery tank and bracket, and hose that
connects to the pressure cap. See Figure 3.
2.2
Remove the dry exhaust elbow. Save the clamp
See Figure 3.
2.3
Install the new dry exhaust elbow (GM49740)
using the existing clamp.
3.
Disconnect the low seawater pressure
switch.
3.1
Disconnect the lead to the low seawater pressure
switch. Tape the bare lead and tie it back into the
engine harness. See Figure 4.
