Check
Is the arm of the pre-registration paper
sensor (Q2) broken? Does it move
smoothly?
Is the pre-registration paper sensor (Q2)
functioning normally?
Disconnect J311 on the DC controller
PCB. Set the meter to the 1kΩ range. Con-
nect the leads to J311-9 and J311-10 of
part of J311 connected to the wiring. Is the
resistance approx. 145Ω?
Is the leading edge of the copy paper
reaching the registration rollers?
Are all drive gears from the main motor
(M1) to the pre-registration rollers nor-
mal?
Check
Are the belts and gears from the main mo-
tor (M1) to the registration roller clutch
(CL1) normal?
Disconnect J307 on the DC controller
PCB. Set the meter to the 1kΩ range. Con-
nect the leads to J307-3 and J307-4 of part
of J307 connected to the wiring. Is the
registance approx. 120Ω?
Connect J307 to the DC controller PCB.
Set the meter to the 30VDC range. Con-
nect the (+) lead to J307-3 and the (-) lead
to J307-4. Press the COPY START key.
Does the voltage change from 0V to about
24V?
Result Action
No Replace the sensor arm.
No Replace pre-registration
paper sensor (Q2).
No Check the wiring from
J312 to SL3. If it is nor-
mal, replace the
multifeeder clutch (SL3).
Yes Refer to the sub-section
"Registration rollers do
not turn."
No Re-install or replace the
gears.
Yes Replace the DC control-
ler PCB.
Result Action
No Re-install or replace any
belts or gears.
No Check the wiring from
J307 to CL1. If it is nor-
mal, replace the registra-
tion roller clutch (CL1).
No Replace the DC control-
ler PCB.
Yes Do the registration roll-
ers or drive gears inter-
fere with other parts?
Remove parts from the
vicinity.
