Overview

The DNE-1000 Digital News Editing Workstation is a
digital processor forming part of a nonlinear news
editing system.
The DNE-1000, BZNE-2020 Operating Program, and
an MAV-555 Disk Recorder, together make up the
DNE-2000 Digital News Editing System.

Integration of editing functions, DME
switcher functions, and audio mixer
functions
You can configure a nonlinear editing system by
connecting the DNE-1000 to a source device, storage
device, monitor, and a computer. By adding the
optional BKNE-1040 Video Effects Board or BKNE-
1041 3D/Lighting/Trail Effects Board, the DNE-1000
can also function as a high performance DME switcher
for 4:2:2 digital processing, providing the functionality
for A/B roll editing. Since the DNE-1000 also
functions as a four-channel audio mixer, it simplifies
the setting up of an editing system.
Nonlinear editing
The MAV-555 Disk Recorder is used as local storage
system. If you are using VTRs as source devices,
Betacam (with digital outputs), D1, digital Betacam,
and Betacam SX formats are supported.
All editing operations are carried out using the
graphical user interface (GUI) on the computer. By
connecting an optional BKNE-1010 Editing Control
Panel you can also use the function keys and search
dial, for operating the disk system with a VTR "feel."

Video inputs/outputs and processing
SDI video input connectors
The standard system is equipped with four SDI inputs,
each providing for one video channel and four audio
channels. By fitting the optional BKNE-1030
Extended Input and Keyer Board, you can add another
four SDI inputs. Output connectors provide three
program outputs (each SDI, with four audio channels),
two edit preview outputs, and a further capture output
for connection to the computer.
Key functions
By fitting the optional BKNE-1030 Extended Input
and Keyer Board, you can obtain simple
superimposing keyer functionality. Further adding the
BKNE-1040 Video Effects Board replaces this simple
keying function, allowing you to carry out high-
performance external keying and downstream keying.
The external keying may be either luminance keying
or chroma keying. The downstream keying may also
be luminance keying or color keying. The keys for
external keying and downstream keying can also be
selected independently of each other.
Wide range of video effects
Fitting the optional BKNE-1040 Video Effects Board
and the optional BKNE-1041 3D/Lighting/Trail
Effects Board provides about 430 preset effect
patterns, and 32 original background patterns. You
can also use further effects, including 3-D, lighting,
and trail (afterimage) functions.
By connecting the optional BKNE-1011 Editing Fader
Panel, you can use the function knobs to set
parameters, and use the transition levers to check the
action of a wipe.
Audio Inputs/outputs and processing
Digital audio processing
As an audio mixer, the DNE-1000 can handle 20
channels of digital audio input signals (with 20-bit
processing on each channel).
It is equipped with input and output routers, highpass
filters, notch filters, mix down and master fader
controls.
By connecting the optional BKNE-1011 Editing Fader
Panel, you can use the faders to control audio level.
