5. ELECTRICAL SAFETY
* Check that the mains supply voltage corresponds to that specified on the machine's technical
data plate (230 V; 50 Hz).
* Check that the electrical system on which the machine is to be operated is earthed, as
required by current safety regulations, and that both the plug and socket are in excellent
condition.
* Please remember that the mains system must be fitted with a trip switch rated from 10 to 30
mA.
* Any extension leads used must comply with current laws, and in any case must have the same
or a greater gauge than that of the machine's power cable.
* Do not allow the power cable to come into contact with sources of heat, damp, dirty, greasy
surfaces, or sharp edges.
* Check the state of the machine's power cable on a regular basis. This must be in excellent
conditions at all times.
* Never pull on the power cable to unplug or lift the machine
6. STARTING UP
*Place the machine on a flat bench to ensure stability, preferably fixing it in place by means of
screws and nuts through the special holes at the base of the machine.
* Plug in the power cable and switch on the machine.
* On start up, ensure the grinding wheel is rotating in the direction indicated by the arrow
stamped on the wheel's protective lid.
Next, test the grinder by letting it run idly for at least 5 minutes, keeping at a distance from the
machine while it is running.
*Before using a water grinding wheel on the multipurpose machine (SBC 150/200), remember to
pour some water into the tank until the edge of the wheel is immersed by 1 or 2 cm, ensuring
beforehand that the tank's outlet is shut with the rubber cap provided (n. 5, fig. 5).
START-UP PROBLEMS:
WARNING! The machines included in this Instruction Manual come with a trip switch that will
activate automatically in the event of an interruption of the power supply. In this case, switch the
machine back on in order to start up the machine when the power returns.
* If the machine does not start up, check the electrical connections, the trip switch and the fuses
before requesting the assistance of specialised technicians.
7. USING THE GRINDING WHEELS
EMERY GRINDING WHEELS: For sharpening operations, place the item to be worked on the
support (n. 9, fig. 2) and press it against the wheel, exerting a suitable but not excessive pressure.
During grinding, the temperature of the item being worked will increase considerably; for this
reason, we suggest dipping it in cold water from time to time.
