    This board is a single-chip, PCI Express to two Serial-ATA (SATA) Gen Ⅲ 6Gb/s channels RAID host controller that brings server-class features to the desktop. SATA2600 equips MARVELL high performance PCI Express chipset which supports all Serial ATA Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ features.

    User Manual Launching SATA Card BIOS When PC booting, system will detect Marvell PCI Express SATA card and connected Serial ATA hard disk status. Press <Ctrl>+<M> to launch card’s BIOS utility. Launch the Marvell BIOS Utility Press the key combination during the controller’s POST.
  • Page 7 User Manual After pressing <Ctrl>+<M> to launch card’s BIOS utility, you can read below screen which shows current SATA drives connected status, BIOS, and Firmware version. Keyboard Description Function Up / Down Scrolls menu / list items. Selects an item and shows a pop-up menu with Enter options.

    User Manual Virtual Disk Settings Creating Virtual RAID Disk In the Topology pane, scroll HBA 0: Marvell 0 and press Enter to select. A menu pops-up as show below picture. Select Configuration Wizard and press Enter to begin creating virtual RAID disk. Press Space to select/unselect a SATA disk, and an asterisk(*) marks on the selected disk.
  • Page 9 User Manual Creating Virtual RAID Disk by configuring its settings in the information pane. Press Enter to select a RAID Level (RAID 0 and RAID 1), Stripe Size, Quick Init…features. (1) RAID Level: RAID0 or RAID1 (Default: RAID0) (2) Stripe Size: 32K or 64K (Default: 64K) (3) Gigabyte Rounding: None, 1G, 10G (Default: 1G) (4) Quick Init: Yes, No (Default: Yes) (5) VD Name: User can name the Virtual Disk code.
  • Page 10 User Manual After virtual disk create successfully, you can read Virtual Disk in Topology Pane. WARING Be sure to press F10 to save BIOS configuration settings, before quitting from BIOS utility.
  • Page 11 User Manual Erasing RAID Configuration Data This topic describes the procedure to erase RAID configuration data (if any) on a foreign physical disk. WARING If the physical disk was originally part of another virtual disk, using Erase RAID Configuration Data may damage that virtual disk.
  • Page 12 User Manual Rebuilding Virtual Disk This topic describes the procedure to manually rebuild a degraded virtual disk. This is applicable to the RAID 1 virtual disk created with PCIe SATA controller. Note: The SATA card’s BIOS supports manual rebuilding of RAID 1 virtual disks. The rebuild process is both initiated and completed in the BIOS.
  • Page 13 User Manual 2. Replace the faulty physical disk with an identical physical disk. Note: If an identical disk is unavailable, use a replacement physical disk of larger size or one with a slightly smaller size as determined the Gigabyte Rounding setting for the virtual disk. The SATA board detects the new physical disk and lists the device under Free Physical Disks in the Topology pane, as shown in picture.
  • Page 14 User Manual 4. Scroll through the list of free disks, and press Space to select or unselect a replacement physical disk. There is an asterisk(*) marks on the selected disk. Press Enter to continue. 5. Press Y to select Yes, when prompted to confirm the rebuild process.

  • Page 16 User Manual Deleting Virtual Disk This topic describes the procedure to delete a virtual disk. WARING Using Delete permanently erases all data on the virtual disk. 1. In the Topology pane, select Virtual Disk (VD 0: Default) and press Enter. A menu pops-up, as shown in picture.

    User Manual Driver Installation Add SATA host card to an existing Windows installation Follow the instructions in this section to install the SATA host card on a system already environment* under Windows 2000/2003/XP/Vista/7/2008 operation system. Note: System ready environment means that your booting primary HDD does NOT connect to this SATA host card.

Start > Controller Panel > Device Manager In the Device Manager window, you should see this board Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller under Storage controllers item. Note: Please run Update Driver Software, if there is a question or exclamation marking on the Marvell 91xx SCSI Device.

Follow the instructions in this section if you are performing a new installation of Windows 2000/2003/XP/Vista/7/2008 operation system, and you want to boot from HDD attached on the SATA PCI-Express Card. Note: Under this operation, your system HDD will be formatted and you should re-install Windows operation system.

When system booting from DVD, Windows will load hardware information. 4.1 Press [F6] for third party SCSI or driver installation at the beginning of text mode installation. 4.2 Press [ S ] when setup asks if you want to specify an additional device, and insert the diskette which you had copied.

    User Manual Windows RAID Management Utility The Marvell RAID Utility (MRU) is a browser-based RAID management utility for Marvell RAID controllers. It can create and manage RAID virtual disks and arrays, using storage and enclosure devices connected to the RAID controller. This chapter provides an introduction to MRU and an overview of its user interface.
