The PowerSeeker is a classical, two element refracting telescope that comes on an altazimuth mount. This section
instructs you on the proper assembly and use of your PowerSeeker telescope, which is shipped in one box, containing
all the parts you need to assemble it. Unpack and lay out all of the parts in a large, clear area where you'll have room
to work.
To set up the tripod, locate the altazimuth mount , the tripod legs (10) and the tripod bolts. The PowerSeeker
a pre-assembled tripod and mount and comes ready to attach the telescope tube and accessory tray. The PowerSeeker
70 comes with a heavy duty mount that needs to be attached to the tripod legs. To assemble to tripod / mount:
1.
Secure the center leg brace (11) to the inside of each tripod leg (10) using the screws and nuts provided.
2.
Slide the top portion of each tripod leg around the three flanges on the mount, so the flange is secured
between them.
3.
Slide the provided screws through the tripod leg and flange, until the screw extends out the other side and
tighten with the wingnuts.
4.
Extend the inner portion of each of the three tripod legs to the desired height. Tighten the thumb screw on the
side of each tripod leg to secure them in place.
5.
Attach the accessory tray (12) to the tripod by threading the screw on the bottom of the tray into the hole in
the center of the tripod center leg brace (11). The PowerSeeker
in the center of the center leg brace.
6.
Thread the pan handle (9) into the hole on the side of the mount. The pan handle not only allows you to move
your telescope, but will also lock the telescope in place when the handle is rotated.
After all the screws have been hand-tightened, you are ready to attach the telescope tube to the mount:
1.
Place the telescope tube (2) on top of the mount so that the pan handle (9) is pointing towards the rear
(eyepiece end) of the telescope.
2.
Thread the mounting screw (14) into the mount plate on the bottom of the tube to hold the telescope in place.
Your telescope comes with the following optical accessories:
Erect Image Diagonal (Pre-installed)
20mm eyepiece 1¼"
4mm eyepiece 1¼ "
3x Barlow Lens 1¼" and
5x20 Finderscope
1.
Remove the cap from the diagonal (7) and remove eyepieces from their containers.
2.
Place the chrome barrel of the eyepiece into the diagonal . Lock it into place with the thumb screw on the side
of the diagonal.
3.
Your telescope also comes with 3x Barlow lens which triples the magnifying power of each eyepiece (see
Magnification section of the manual). To use the Barlow lens, insert the Barlow lens into the diagonal. Start
by using the low power eyepiece such as the 20mm, and insert it into the open end of the Barlow lens.
The 5x20 finderscope comes installed in a bracket that pivots for convenient use.
1.
The finder bracket has a small tab on its base that slides into the opening located on the left side of the
telescope tube (between the silver telescope tube and the black rear cell).
2.
Once installed, you can pivot the bracket into the desired position and secure it using the locking screw.
