Install the software and connect the machine to your computer.
IMPORTANT
Do not connect the USB cable before installing the software. If you connect the USB cable before installing the software
and the Found New Hardware Wizard screen appears, click [Cancel].
NOTE
The instructions below are for Windows XP. For Windows 98/Me/2000, see the Software Guide.
For Windows 2000/XP, log on as Administrator to install the software.

Turn on your computer.

Quit any open applications, including virus checking software.

Insert the imageCLASS MF5500 Series User Software CD into the CD-ROM drive.

When the Canon MF5550/MF5530 Main Menu screen appears, click [Install Software].
If the Main Menu screen is not displayed, on the Windows desktop, click [Start]
Open the CD-ROM icon, then double-click [setup (setup.exe)].

When the Canon Multi-function Printers InstallShield Wizard screen appears, click
[Next >] and follow the instructions on the screen.
