Using Defrost ( ) Mode
Before using Defrost ( ) mode:
If you tend to freeze meats and poultry in store packaging, take a few
minutes and repackage for use with Defrost ( ) mode. Whole chicken
must have the insides removed before freezing and cooking. Most
meats and poultry are packaged with absorbent pads under the food.
Those can be difficult to remove once frozen.
• Remove outer packaging, pads, and insides of chicken.
• Rewrap with aluminum foil, vacuum seal or place in freezer bags
so food is ready to unwrap and drop into Slow Cooker.
1. Plug into outlet. Follow Steps 1 to 4 in How to Use Slow Cooker
(see page 6).
2. Press Defrost ( ) and PROG buttons. Buttons will illuminate and
HIGH will flash on display.
NOTE: Defrost ( ) must be used with PROG Mode.
3. Press up arrow ( ) or down arrow ( ) for HIGH or LOW cooking.
Then press ENTER button to select. Display will flash default time.
4. Press up arrow ( ) or down arrow ( ) for cooking time. Then,
press ENTER button to start cooking.
5. Display will start to count down from selected time and toggle
between time and selected heat setting. When selected cook
time is complete, Slow Cooker will automatically beep 3 times
and switch to WARM. Display will show WARM. Slow Cooker
will automatically turn off after a total of 24 hours of cooking and
WARM time if not turned off. Unplug.
