THIS CLIP INSTRUCTION
SUPERCEDES THE Q-TOWER
INSTRUCTIONS. FOLLOW THESE
INSTRUCTIONS ONLY!
ASSEMBLE TOWERS, END CAPS AND PADS ON BARS

REPARATION
TO BEGIN:
To Prepare:
Loosen screws
• Clean roof of car.
on each tower turning
• Remove towers

• Put 1 rubber base pad from clip
boxes on base of each Tower.

on front bar.
INSTALL CLIPS AND SECURE RACK TO BRACKETS

NSTALL LIPS
• Line front & back of clips with
black vinyl liners;
trim if necessary.
• Slip lined clip
into Tower
through slits
on side.

INE UNING THE OWER TENSION
• Gold sliders should be an equal distance
from the slider marks on each tower.
• IF the gold sliders are not equal
distances, loosen or tighten screws until
sliders are equal.
TOWER
SAFETY
CHECK BOTH TOWERS:
• GRAB BAR on inside of Towers, push & pull
(use arm strength, full body strength not neces-
sary). Tower should not move.
• IF TOWERS MOVE, tighten screws slightly.
• KEEP SLIDER MARKS EQUAL.
• CLOSE COVER & CHECK AGAIN —
If towers move, check measurements again.

Slide the loose Towers
along the bar until they
rest on top of the
brackets. The holes in
the rubber base pads
align with the bolt
heads of the brackets.

• Insert lock holder into holes in

• Push brass fastener over lock
holder. It should feel snug.
• Repeat steps 7 & 8 for other
Tower.

Q41 clips can only be used with:
Bolt TopLoaders (Part #8005) or
PlusNut TopLoaders (Part #8006).

NSTALL OWERS TO ROSSBAR ON FLAT SURFACE
• Turn wrench counter
clockwise until it
stops.

N RACKETS
• Lift Tower Hood & Crossbar
• Insert wrench in hole.
• Turn wrench a short turn
Repeat with other Tower.

ECURE THE RACK TO BRACKETS
:
• Tighten one side slightly so that cam
cover closes with light pressure—and
without moving the tower. Do not
overtighten. Close cover.
• Go to opposite side, tighten screw
slightly, close cover.
• Tighten each side as evenly as
possible—a few turns on one tower,
then a few on the other. Open and
close cam covers with each
adjustment.
• Tighten until the covers close
firmly—with some resistance.
This needs to be done gradually
to prevent the towers from
moving off center.

• Slide bar into
tower, remove
wrench. REPEAT
for other tower.

TOGETHER so that tower drops.
clockwise—this locks the Tower
to the bar.

• PULL each clip away from car—PULL HARD!
• DO THIS FOR EACH CLIP.
• If clip moves, open cover and tighten
screw. Close cover and check clip
again.
– KEEP SLIDER MARKS EQUAL –
TO REMOVE RACK:
• Open tower covers & lift rack
up and off (do NOT
disassemble).
TO RE-INSTALL:
• Place Towers (covers open)
in original positions.
• Close Tower covers &
recheck rack and clips (Steps
11 & 12). Tighten if needed.

• SKS ® Lock Cores: Follow
directions and install with
Tower covers closed.
