SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING! This unit's AC voltage detection range is 70 to
1,000 V. Do not attempt to detect voltages above or below this
range or electrical shock may occur.
1.
Check the battery power level before each use.
2.
Separate multiple lines, such as 2-phase and 3-phase wires,
and perform voltage detection on each line individually.
3.
Keep your hand behind the finger guard at all times.
WARNING! To avoid electrical shock, never touch any
conductor with your bare skin.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Protect yourself against electrical shock when working on electric
equipment. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces. There is an
increased chance of electrical shock if your body is grounded.
CAUTION: A qualified electrician should perform all wiring.
TOOL USE AND CARE
1.
Do not alter any parts of the device. All parts and accessories
are designed with built-in safety features that may be
compromised if altered.
2.
When wiring an electrically driven device, follow all electrical
and safety codes, as well as the most recent Canadian
Electrical Code (CE) and the Canadian Centre for Occupational
Health and Safety (CCOHS).
PARTS IDENTIFICATION
INSTALLING THE BATTERY
1.
Turn the switch cover counterclockwise until it stops,
press down on the switch cover, and turn the switch cover
counterclockwise to remove it from the unit (see Fig. 1).
Fig. 1
2.
Insert two "AAA" batteries into the battery compartment
making sure that they are aligned in the direction specified on
the case.
3.
Replace the switch cover using the reverse procedure of
Instruction 1, and turn the switch cover to the "OFF" position.
OPERATION
1.
Turn the switch cover to the "ON" position.
2.
Test the unit on a power source that is
known to be in proper working order, such
as a standard AC outlet. If the LED lights
illuminate and the buzzer sounds, the device
is in proper working order (see Fig. 2).
3.
Test both side of the AC outlet. The outlet
may be wired incorrectly and can still carry
current.
4.
Touch the tip of the unit to the cable or the
socket to be tested. If the device detects AC
voltage, the LED lights will illuminate and
the buzzer will sound (see Fig. 3).
NOTE:
Live shielded wires will not be detected.
MAINTENANCE
Maintain the product with care. A product in good condition is efficient
and will prevent unnecessary problems.
