2. Remove the air filter case cover by
removing the screws.
3. Remove the air filter element by
pulling it out.

4. Check the air filter element for ex-
cessive dirt or damage and re-
place it if necessary.
5. Place the air filter element in its
original position.
6. Install the air filter case cover by
installing the screws.
Cleaning the V-belt case air filter
element
1. Place the vehicle on the center-
stand.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT
1. V-belt case air filter cover
2. Bolts (x 4)
2. Remove the V-belt air filter case
cover by removing the bolts.
1. Dust boot
2. V-belt air filter element

3. Remove the dust boot and the ele-
ment by pulling it out.
4. Clean the dust boot with dry cloth.
5. Clean the element with solvent,
and then squeeze the remaining
solvent out.
6. Check the element for damage
and replace it if necessary.
7. Apply oil of the recommended type
to the entire surface of the ele-
ment, and then squeeze the ex-
cess oil out.
WARNING! Use
only a dedicated parts cleaning
solvent. To avoid the risk of fire
or explosion, do not use gaso-
line or solvents with a low flash
point.

gasohol may cause engine trou-
ble depending on the engine. If
gasohol is used and engine
trouble occurs, contact your
Yamaha dealer as soon as pos-
sible.
