8. Sweeping Technique

It is essential to sweep the search head from side to side. The device detects nothing if the
search head is kept stationary. Lower the search coil to within one inch off the ground when you
are hunting for small objects such as coins. Sweep the search head from side to side in front of
you. Sweep in a straight line and at a constant height. Move the coil at a rate of 1m per second
and make two sweeps with every step you take. Advance the search head some 2/3 of its
diameter with every step. The remaining 1/3 overlaps the previous sweep and minimises the
risks of missing certain target objects.
DO NOT RUSH. Satisfactory results will only be reached if you take your time to cover your
chosen hunting ground.

9. Maintenance

Store your detector in a warm and dry environment when not in use. Remove the batteries to
prevent leakage if the device is not be used for a length of time. Clean the exterior parts of the
housing whenever you have used your detector in a hostile environment (salt water, sand, etc.).
Salty air can penetrate the control box when the device is often used in a salty environment.
This salt air may well corrode vital parts of the delicate electronic circuits. Consequently it is
advisable to cover the control box with polythene.

10. Troubleshooting

1. The detector no longer works.
• Check the condition of the batteries and replace them if necessary.
• Interchange the batteries and check if the connections are correct and secure. Battery life
can vary tremendously between makes : your "new" batteries may already lack the power
to run your detector.
• Make sure that the search head is properly attached to the control box via the search head
cable connector.
2. Oscillating signal & fluctuating LEDs // Intermittent sound from speaker
• This could be due to poor battery connections. Reinstall the batteries carefully.
• A radio transmission from a passing taxi or vehicle may cause interference. Reduce the
sensitivity or, if this doesn't work, wait until the transmission in question has ended.
• The cable connection between the search head and the control box may be loose
Please check the batteries and read "10. Troubleshooting" above before returning your
detector for repairs. If the detector still doesn't work, you can return the detector together with a
note explaining the problem
