ERROR MESSAGE

CAUSE
The front cover was not completely closed.
Documents were not inserted or fed
properly or document was too long.
MFC has a mechanical problem
You can't store data in the memory.
The primary corona wire of drum unit is
dirty.
A page, piece of paper or paper clip, etc.
may be jammed inside the machine.
The recording paper is jammed in the MFC.
Toner cartridge is not installed. Toner is
used up and printing is not possible.
If the display shows CHANGE TONER
and at the same time the Toner Empty LED
on the control panel flashes on and off, you
can still print. But the toner is depleted and
the machine is telling you that the toner will
soon run out.
ACTION
Open, then close the front cover.
Do not pull paper out until you see
"Document Jams and Paper Jams" in
this chapter.
Cut the power off. Then contact your
Brother dealer for service.
See "If You Get a Memory Full
Message" in chap. 3.
Clean the primary corona wire of drum
unit.
Open the front cover. If you see any
jammed paper or other item, gently pull
it out, then close the front cover. If the
error message remains, open and close
the front cover again. If the machine
cannot reset itself and return to the
ready prompt, it will display
MACHINE ERROR XX. Please call
your Brother dealer for service.

Reinstall the toner cartridge. Replace
the toner cartridge with a new one. (See
"Replacing the Toner Cartridge" in this
chapter).
Order a new toner cartridge now.
