  • Page 6 Teflon Taping Instructions Use only new or clean PVC pipe fittings. Wrap male pipe thread with one or two layers of teflon tape, winding tape clockwise as you face the start of thread. Cover entire thread por- tion of pipe. See Figure 6. If leaks occur, remove pipe, clean off old tape, rewrap with one to two additional layers of tape and remake the connection.

    ELECTRICAL Ground motor before connecting to electrical power supply! Failure to ground pump motor can cause serious or fatal electrical shock hazard! Do not ground to a gas supply line! To avoid dangerous or fatal electrical shock, turn OFF power to motor before working on electrical connections.

    OPERATION NEVER run pump dry! Running pump dry may damage seals, causing leakage and flooding! Fill pump with water before starting motor. Do not add chemicals to pool/spa system directly in front of pump suc- tion. Adding undiluted chemicals may damage pump and voids warranty.

    PUMP SERVICE Pump should only be serviced by qualified personnel. Be sure to prime pump (Page 8) before starting. Before removing trap cover or front plate bolts: 1. STOP PUMP before proceeding. 2. CLOSE GATE VALVES in suction and discharge pipes. 3.

    STORAGE/WINTERIZING To prevent damage to components from fumes, store pool and spa chemicals away from pump and spa. If possible, store chemicals in an other well-ventilated area. Allowing pump to freeze will damage pump and void warranty! Drain all water from pump and piping when expecting freezing temper- atures or when storing pump for a long time (see instructions below).
