BEFORE USING YOUR GRILL FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Note: When using the grill for the first time, the unit will maybe cause a fine smoke. This is
caused by the heating of the elements and new components and can be disregarded.
Remove all packaging from the grill bevor use.
Check that the cooking plates are free of dust. Wipe the surface of the plates with a damp
cloth and dry with cloth, kitchen towel etc.
Place the grill on a flat level surface.
Cooking plates must be in the closed position for pre-heating.
Note: For the first use ONLY, season the plates by applying a thin coat of cooking oil, butter or
margarine to the cooking surfaces and rub in with a paper towel. Exercise care, as the cooking
plates will be hot.
USE
Set the Grill Toaster Temperature Control to your desired setting. At first, try a setting in the
max. You may later adjust it lower or higher according to your preference.
Close the appliance and let it heat.
Plug into the electrical outlet. The red power light and the green ready light will come on to
indicate that the appliance is switched on and heating.
The green ready light will go out when the cooking temperature is reached. During use,
this ready light will come on and out regularly. This simply means that the thermostat is
regulating the appliance's temperature.
Attention: during the functioning, the baking plates heat up. Pay attention not to get burned.
Preheat the plates for 5-8 minutes
During the preheating time – Perpare your grill and when ready, open the grill and place the
grill on the bottom cooking plate. Always place grill towards the rear of the cooking plate.
Close the top cooking plate and it will automatically adjust to the thickness of the sandwich
because of the floating hinge. This will ensure an even toasting.
2
Toasting should take approximately 5-8 minutes. However, exact toasting times will depend
on types and thickness of breads and different filling used.
Open the lid when the sandwich is cooked. Always remove the sandwich by using plastic
or wooden spatula. Never use metal utensils as this may damage the non-stick coating.
Close the lid to preserve the heat until ready to toast the next sandwiches.
After use, remove the plug from the wall socket.
USE AS OPEN GRILL
Place Grill Toaster on a clean flat surface where you intend to cook.
The Grill Toaster can be positioned in flat position.
Upper plate/cover is level with lower plate/base. The upper and
lower plates line up to create one large cooking surface. The Grill
Toaster to this position, locate the hinge release lever on the right
arm.
With you left hand on the handle, use your right hand to slide the
lever toward you. Push the handle back until the cover rests flat on
the counter. The unit will stay in this position until you lift the handle
and cover to return it to the closed position.
Use the Grill Toaster as an open grill to cook burgers, steak, poultry (we do not recommend
cooking bone-in chicken, since it does not cook evenly on an open grill), fish and vegetables.
Cooking on the open grill is the most versatile method of using the Grill Toaster. In the open
position, you have double the surface area for grill.
You have the option of cooking different types of
foods on separates without combining their flavors, or
cooking large amounts of the same type of food. The
open position also accommodates different cuts of
meat with varying thicknesses, allowing you to cook
each piece to you liking.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Ensure that the unit is unplugged and cool before attempting cleaning.
Never use a scouring pad or abrasive cleaner as this will be damaged both plastic and
metal parts.
The drip tray may be washed in hot, soapy water.
Use the specially shaped spatula supplied to scrape off any excess food adhering to the
non-stick plates, a wet non-abrasive sponge or paper towel can be used to rub off stubborn
