SAFETY
1. Read
the manual completely
before
attempting to operate the
unit.
2. Check the
wall outlet to insure for proper
grounding of the electrical cable.
Have a
licensed electrician check
the outlet
if
you are not
sure.
3. Don't use the unit if the cord, plug, filter,
motor
or
machine
itself
is in
Poor
condition.
Have
a
qualified
serviceman
inspect
and repair parts
when
necessary.
4.
Don't allow the Carpet Machine
to
be
used as a toy, or
to
run unattended at
any time.
5.
Don't use
accessories excePt
as
recommended and provided by Bissell.
6.
Don't abuse cord.
Never
carry
tool
by
cord
or
yank
it
to
disconnect
from
receptacle. Keep
cord from
heat,
oil
or
sharp edges. Don't close doors on
the
cord or snag
it
under furniture or doors
with sharp
edges.
7.
Don't
leave
the cord lying on the carpet
once you have finished the cleaning job.
It may be a tripping
hazard.
8. Don't unclog hose, clean unit, or change
filter until you
have disconnected the
plug from the wall
receptacle.
9.
Do not pick up
flammable
or
readily
combustible material,
hot
ashes, coals
or
use
unit in the
presence
of
explosive
liquids or vapor.
10. Don't use cleaner in an enclosed space
where Jlammable, explosive
or
toxic
vapors are given
off
by oil-base
paint,
paint thinner,
gasoline,
some
moth-
proofing substances, etc., or in an
area
where flammable
dust is
present.
11. Don't pick
up burning
cigarettes orother
smoking materials
while using
the
Carpet Machine.
12. Extension
cord-When
using the tool at
a
distance where
an
extension
cord
becomes necessary,
a
3-conductor,
grounding cord of adequate size must be
used
for
safety, and
to
prevent loss of
power and overheating.
Use
this

INSTRUCTIONS:
To
protect
the
operator from electrical
shock,
this unit
is
equipped
with
an
approved
three
conductor
cord
and
grounding
type
plug.
This plug is
to
be
used only
with the
proper
grounding
type
receptacle.
Your
machine
has
a
plug
that
looks like
that
shown
in
sketch
(A).
An
adapter, see sketch (B) and (C),
is
available
for
connecting
three-prong
type
plugs
to
two-prong
receptacles.
The green colored rigid lug
extending
from the adapter must be connected to a
permanent ground
such as
a
properly
grounded outlet
box.
