Manual Radius turning device:
GB
The radius turning device has been designed for both PROXXON Lathe
systems: the Lathe PD 230/E and the Lathe PD 400. For working with the
radius turning device, it has to be fastened in place of the tool holder on
the lathe PD 230/E or PD 400:
Instructions for use with the PD 230/E (fig. 1):
The complete longitudinal support has to be removed from the transverse
support. Having done this, the radius turning device can be installed with
the enclosed screws M6x8 and the sliding block.
Instructions for use with the PD 400 (fig. 2):
The tool holder has to be unscrewed and to be removed. In its place the
radius turning device is fastened with the enclosed screw M8x10.
When using a turning steel with a cross section of 8 x 8 mm, the cutting
height of the radius turning device is correct with both machines. Other
turning steels must be supported accordingly.
How to use the radius turning device:
The tool holder of the radius turning device can be fastened in different
positions on the tiltable plate (fig. 3-4). Thereby, and, of course, by the
length of the turning steel the radius is naturally determined. Is the cutting
edge between the longitudinal axis of the work piece and the fulcrum of
the tiltable plate, concave radii are turned. If the cutting edge is on the
other hand behind the fulcrum of the tiltable plate, convex radii are turned.
For this application a pointed steel, is used best, we recommend the
pointed steel from the PROXXON turning steel set No. 24 530,
which is included to this set.
