    WARNING! DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY can occur. Use only with children whose height is between 38 and 60 inches (97 and 152 cm). DO NOT use this booster seat without the backrest unless it is used in a seating position with a vehicle headrest. DO NOT use this booster seat as a backless booster unless proper vehicle- belt placement can be achieved.

Based on crash statistics, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recommends that parents select the rear seat as the safest location for a properly installed booster seat. Please study the section on Vehicle Safety Belts in this booklet to ensure the child’s safety. If in doubt about installing this booster seat, consult the vehicle owner’s manual.

    Important Notes • Children who weigh 40 pounds (18 kg) or less are best protected in a restraint with a five-point harness. Britax recommends that children remain in a restraint with a five-point harness until reaching the maximum weight or height allowed.

    Attaching the Backrest To attach the backrest to the base, place the base on a flat surface and align the back rest evenly with the base. Fold the plastic tab on the backrest upward, align the backrest attachment axle with the axle guide on the base and slide the backrest attachment axle into position.

    Adjusting the Backrest Use the two-position recline flap to adjust the back angle of the booster seat. Reclined Backrest Position: Pull out the recline flap and slide down until in reclined position. (Fig. A) Recline the backrest until the recline flap lies flat along the back of the vehicle seat.

    Adjustments Adjusting the Width of the Base The base width can be adjusted for a proper fit, to improve side-impact protection and provide greater comfort. Before placing child in seat, squeeze both adjustment levers while pulling arm rests apart to achieve the widest base position.

    Installation Place booster seat in a vehicle seating position equipped with a lap-shoulder belt. Refer to page 7 to determine the best seating position for the child. Position the booster seat with the back against the vehicle seat. Adjust recline, if necessary, for proper fit.

    Using the Booster Seat Securing the Child Thread the vehicle shoulder belt through the red belt guide on the head rest closest to the retractor. Pull the vehicle belt across the child’s chest to the opposite lap-belt guide nearest the seat buckle. Pull the lap-belt section under both arm rests and over the red belt guides so that the belt lays flat on the child’s lap.

    Using the Booster without a Backrest WARNING! • DO NOT use this booster seat without the backrest unless the booster seat will be properly installed in a vehicle seat with a headrest. • ONLY use this booster seat without the backrest if proper vehicle belt positioning can be achieved.

    Care and Maintenance Cover Removal Tip: Use a blunt wooden rod (pencil, chopstick, etc.) to assist with untucking the cover hooks from the shell. Before removing the cover, place booster seat on a level surface. Lift headrest to highest level, swivel backrest down and expand base to the widest position. Removing Base Cover Locate the elastic loops at the back corners of the base.

    Care and Maintenance Care and Maintenance Cleaning the Cover HAND WASH using cold water and mild soap. LINE DRY to prevent cover from shrinking. DO NOT bleach, machine wash or machine dry. Cleaning the Shell SPONGE CLEAN using warm water and mild soap. TOWEL DRY DO NOT use solvents, abrasive cleaners or disassemble booster in any way, except as instructed.
