    Getting Started Step 1: Installing the System Positioning the speakers For the best possible surround sound, place all speakers at the same distance from the listening position (A). The distance can be between 0 to 23 feet (0.0 to 7.0 meters). If you cannot place the center speaker and surround speakers at the same distance as (A), place them within 23 feet (7.0 meters) of the listening position.

    Inserting the wireless transceiver You can transmit sound from the unit to an S-AIR product, such as the surround amplifier or S-AIR receiver. To transmit sound from the unit, you need to insert the wireless transceivers into the unit and S-AIR product.

    Step 3: Setting up the S-AIR Wireless System Before performing Step 3 Make sure all connections are secure, and then connect the AC power cords (mains leads). To use the S-AIR wireless system, you need to set up the surround amplifier. The unit transmits sound to the surround amplifier that is connected to the surround speakers.

    • The iPod is charged when connected to the system while the system is turned on. • You cannot transfer songs onto the iPod. • Sony cannot accept responsibility in the event that data recorded to iPod is lost or damaged when using an iPod connected to this unit.

To prevent this, you can identify the unit with a specific S-AIR sub unit by performing the pairing operation.

    Receiving the digital audio signal of the TV (Audio Return Channel) The system can receive the digital audio signal of the TV via an HDMI cable when your TV is compatible with the Audio Return Channel function. You can enjoy TV sound via the system by using just one HDMI cable.

    Symptom There is no digital sound from the HDMI OUT jack when using the Audio Return Channel function. The system does not output sound correctly when connected to a set-top box. Severe hum or noise is heard. The sound loses stereo effect when you play a CD.
