If you connect the DVD receiver to a VCR, TV/VCR combination, or video selector, the playback picture may be distorted as DVD Video images are copy protected.     Connecting Speakers About wall-mounted speakers Note: When mounting speakers on the wall, be sure to check the strength of the wall before mounting. The weight the screws are able to support differs depending on the material used for the wall and the position of the wall supports.

    Connecting Speakers 1/3 wall length Note When placing the satellite speakers, do not place them on the edge of a surface, such as a table or rack. If the speaker falls, you may be injured. Operating Precautions Placement • Speakers are normally made out of wood or plastic and are therefore sensitive to extreme temperatures and humidity, do not put them in locations subject to direct sunlight or in humid places, such as near an air conditioner, humidifier, bathroom, or kitchen.

    Attach the FM antenna, as shown. Insert the plug fully into the socket. Once your AVD-303 is ready for use, you’ll need to tune into an FM radio station and adjust the position of the FM antenna to achieve the best possible reception.

    Using the 75/300-ohm Antenna Adapter The 75/300-ohm Antenna Adapter is not supplied with AVD-303. The 75/300-ohm antenna adapter can be used to connect an FM antenna using either 75-ohm coaxial cable or 300-ohm twin-core flat cable.

    Basic Operation MUTE MUTE Adjusting the Volume The volume of the front left and right, center, surround left and right, and sub woofer speakers will be adjusted at the same time. Volume setting are as follows: Min, 01, 02 ... 68, 69, Max. The DVD receiver is designed for home theater enjoyment.

    Speaker Setup Adjust each speaker relative volume balance so that the volumes of all speaker’s test tones sound equal at the listening position. LEVEL +/– Adjusting Each Speaker’s Relative Volume Balance - Test Tone Initial setting is 0 dB for all speakers. Press SETUP for more than 3 seconds.

    Listening to the Radio Using RDS Functions (for Europe only) RDS is a system which transmits useful information (digital data) for FM broadcasts together with the broadcast signal. Tuners and receivers designed for RDS reception can extract the information from the broadcast signal for use with various functions such as automatic display of the station name.
