3. OPERATION
3.1.
CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK (refer to fig.1).
NOTE: The unit battery pack will have been shipped in a low
charge state. Charge battery prior to first use.
3.1.1. Ensure that the power switch is in the 'OFF' position and the
unit is disconnected from the vehicle.
3.1.2. Plug the charger into the charger adaptor and switch on the
mains power supply. The red 'CHARGING' LED will illuminate
whilst the unit is charging. Once the unit has fully charged the
green 'CHARGED' LED will illuminate.
3.1.3. If the yellow 'REPLACE BAT.' LED illuminates, the battery pack
is unserviceable and must be replaced (refer to Section 4).
3.1.4. Once the unit is fully charged, disconnect from the mains
supply and remove the charger from the charger adaptor.
3.2.
OPERATION (refer to fig.1).
3.2.1. The VS7021 is supplied with 2 leads enabling connection using
either the EOBD socket lead (fig.2) or the vehicle accessory
socket lead (fig.3).
3.2.2. Ensure that the vehicle ignition switch is turned OFF.
3.2.3. Plug the lead into the output socket on the unit. DO NOT switch
the power switch to the 'ON' position.
3.2.4. Connect the other end of the lead to the vehicle. The LED on
the plug at the unit should illuminate red, indicating a voltage
from the vehicle. If the LED does not illuminate, check the
connections at the vehicle and the unit.
3.2.5. Once the unit is connected to the vehicle press the power
switch to the 'ON' position. The green 'BAT. OK' will illuminate,
indicating a good connection and adequate operating voltage in
the battery pack.
NOTE: If the red 'BAT. LOW' illuminates, the battery pack will
require charging. Press the power switch to the 'OFF' position,
disconnect from the vehicle and charge the battery (refer to
Section 3.1.).
3.2.6. When connected to the vehicle with the green 'BAT. OK' LED
illuminated, it is safe to disconnect the vehicle battery without
eliminating any codes.

4. MAINTENANCE
4.1.
REPLACING THE BATTERY PACK.
4.1.1. Remove the six screws at the back of the unit.
4.1.2. Lift off the rear cover.
4.1.3. Disconnect the black wire from the NEGATIVE (-) terminal of
the battery, then disconnect the red wire from the POSITIVE
(+) terminal of the battery.
4.1.4. Remove the unserviceable battery from the unit.
4.1.5. Replace battery and connect the red wire to the POSITIVE (+)
terminal, then connect the black wire to the NEGATIVE (-)
terminal.
4.1.6. Replace the rear cover and secure with the six screws.
NOTE: Use genuine parts only. Non authorised parts may be
dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
Environmental Protection
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing
of them as waste. All tools, accessories and
packaging should be sorted, taken to a recycle
centre and disposed of in a manner which is
compatible with the environment. When the
product is no longer required, it must be disposed
of in an environmentally protective way. Contact
your local solid waste authority for recycling
information.
Battery Removal
Remove the battery pack by unscrewing the six
screws at the rear of the unit. Lift off the cover and
disconnect the battery.
Dispose of battery according to local authority
guidelines.
WARNING: DO NOT dispose of by fire. This could
result in an explosion.
Under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators
Regulations 2009, Jack Sealey Ltd are required
