2.2.1 Part 23 Aircraft Not Identified on the STC Aircraft which are not included on the KA 310 STC and are identified via AC 23.1309-1E Class I - II airplanes may be valid candidates for installation of the KA 310. Data provided in this manual may be used to perform the alteration, but additional FAA approval is required.
Regulatory Compliance This article meets the minimum performance and quality control standards required by the TSO listed in the tables below. The KA 310 can only function as a TSO Incomplete article when installed with a KI 300 (PN 89000004-100-00).
Before beginning a KA 310 installation, it is important to ensure the aircraft meets the pre-requisites for the installation of the KA 310 under this STC. The following checklist is provided to help the installer determine the necessary requirements that must be met before beginning installation of the KA 310 in a specific aircraft.
This section summarizes installation limitations applicable for the KA 310. The KA 310 is designed to support 14 CFR Part 23 Class I, and II installations. It is not designed to meet installations in 14 CFR Part 27 rotorcraft.
Note 1 – Testing not required. The enclosure is constructed of metal on all sides and has no vent holes. Note 2 – Section 20 testing completed for CS and RS at a system level with a KI 300 and a KA 310 interconnected, for Level A system. (Cat MD) Note 3 –...
Refer to the troubleshooting instructions in Section 8 - Troubleshooting. If repair is necessary, the unit must be sent to a properly certificated repair facility. The KA 310 is not field repairable. For information on returning the unit, contact BendixKing support.

The following items are required for...
The KA 310 is not authorized to be installed in flammable fluid zones. There are no clearance requirements for the KA 310. The KA 310 unit may be mounted in any orientation. The KA 310 may be installed in pressurized or unpressurized, temperature controlled locations in fixed wing aircraft with service ceilings not exceeding 35,000 ft.
KI300 provides the intended function of KI 255/KI 256/KG 258 and KRG 331/332 in flight control systems. The KA 310 can also provide flight director command bars data to the KI 300 (if flight director functionality is available in the flight control system).
RELEASED FOR THE EXCLUSIVE USE BY: HONEYWELL EMPLOYEE AMERICAS 3.5.2.2 KA 310 Installation Considerations in KAP 150/KAP 200/KFC 150/KFC 200 Flight Control System When installing the KA310 with the KI 300 to provide intended functions of the KI 255/KI 256/KG 258 and KRG 331 (yaw rate gyro) in KAP 150/KAP 200/KFC 150/KFC 200 autopilot system, refer to Figure 3-1 for a system depiction of the wiring that will be required.
RELEASED FOR THE EXCLUSIVE USE BY: HONEYWELL EMPLOYEE AMERICAS 3.5.2.3 KA 310 Installation Considerations in KFC 225 Flight Control System When installing the KA310 with the KI 300 to provide intended functions of the KI 256 and KRG 331/332 (yaw rate gyro) in KFC 225 autopilot system, refer to Figure 3-2 for a system depiction of the wiring that will be required.
ALERT (OPTIONAL FOR INSTALLATION WITH RADAR ALTIMETER) Figure 3-3 Installation of KA310 in KAP 100 Flight Control System ARINC 429 Interface The KA 310 provides the following ARINC 429 interfaces: Attitude output Airdata output Flight director input The interface speed is a common setting for all interfaces and is set to high (100 kbps).
Power Distribution The KA 310 can operate on either 14 or 28 VDC. The KA 310 is powered from the aircraft’s avionics bus through a circuit breaker. The KA 310 requires a 2 AMP circuit breaker for both 14 and 28 VDC installations.
RELEASED FOR THE EXCLUSIVE USE BY: HONEYWELL EMPLOYEE AMERICAS Cable and Wiring Considerations KA 310 wiring will be installed in accordance with AC 43.13-1B Chapter 11, (Section 8 – Wiring Installation Inspection Requirements, Section 10 – Service Loop Harnesses, Section 11 – Clamping, Section 15 –...
KA 310 Location and Mounting The KA 310 does not require forced cooling. The unit must be mounted to a metal surface per the drawing listed in the STC Approved Model List (P/N 89800004-098) to allow proper heat dissipation and electrical bonding of the unit.
4.5.1 Aircraft with Existing ELA If the aircraft has an existing ELA, update the ELA to reflect the addition of the KA 310 LRU. The updated ELA must show the alternator(s)/generator(s) have adequate capacity to supply power to the modified systems in all anticipated conditions.
Verify the electrical load including the KA 310 does not exceed 80% or maximum load published in the AFM/AMM of the rated capacity of the installed generator(s)/alternator(s). If the additional load of the KA 310 exceeds the rated capacity, alternate FAA approval is required for the installation of the KA 310 in the aircraft.
