Quick Hardware Installation Guide
MegaRAC Installation Steps
If your computer does not use other adapter cards with resource settings that may conflict
with the MegaRAC settings, the following steps will make your installation quick and easy.
For all other configurations, please refer to the hardware manual.

Step 1 - Unpack
Unpack and install the hardware in a static free environment. The MegaRAC card is packed
inside an anti-static bag with packaging foam. Remove the controller card and inspect it for
damage. If the card appears damaged, or if any of the items are missing, contact American
Megatrends Technical Support at 770-246-8645.
Step 2 - Power Down
Turn off the computer and remove the cover. Disconnect power, making sure the computer is
disconnected from any networks before installing the card.
Step 3 - Install the MegaRAC Card
Install the MegaRAC card in a PRIMARY PCI slot in the server and connect a 10 megabit network
drop to the MegaRAC card.

Step 6 - Install the Management Station Software on NT/2000
Step A
Boot the server.
Step B
Insert the MegaRAC CD in the network management station.
Step C
Select "Install NT Client and Management Station" to install the
"Management Station and Client" software.
Using the MegaRAC Remote Console Software
Step 1
Locate and start the MegaRAC Console.

Action
Unpack the MegaRAC card and inspect
for damages.
Turn the computer off and remove the
cover.
Install the MegaRAC card in a Primary
PCI slot in the server and connect a 10
megabit drop to the NIC connection of the
MegaRAC card.
Install the Managed Server Node
software.
Configure the MegaRAC card.
Install the Management Station software +

Step 4 - Install the Managed Server Node Software
Step A
Boot the server.
Step B
Insert the MegaRAC CD in to the CD ROM drive of the server where the card is
installed.
Step C
In the Select Software screen select the "NT Host" to install Host Software.
Step 5 - Configuring the MegaRAC Card
Step A
Boot the server.
Step B
Click on Start Menu and go to Control Panel under Settings.
Step C
Double click MegaRAC Card Configuration Utility.

Select Network and enter the network information and click apply.

Select User Manager and enter name, password, email address, and pager configuration
(if any) and click apply.

Under General choose Soft Reset. This will save settings on the MegaRAC Card.
Step 2
Select New Session, double click "Local" and "Add an Entry" for the card you wish to connect to.
Highlight that entry and click "Connect".
Step 3
Enter user name and password and click OK.
