TOOLS REQUIRED FOR INSTALL
• 1/4 inch hex wrench (included)
• 4 mm hex wrench (included)
• 1/2 inch wrench (not included)
PART ONE—UNPACKING
1.
Remove all parts from carton and remove all foam
pieces
2.
Unpack all parts to make sure you have everything
PART TWO—TUBE ASSEMBLY USING COUPLER
1.
Place Reel Housing Section on a flat non-scuffing
surface with the T-slot facing up.
2.
Place Coupler Insert into Coupler. Align locating
tab of insert in the slot of the Coupler. See Figure 1

Insert the large tubes of the Reel Housing Section
into the large end of the Coupler with slots and
screws facing down.
4.
Flip unit over and make sure tube sits flush against
Coupler Insert. Tighten coupler bolts with 4mm
Hex Wrench on large side of coupler only. Coupler
should be snug. Be sure not to over tighten.
5.
Flip unit over again so the T-slot is facing up. Insert
the small poles of the Nose Cone Section into the
Coupler with the rivets facing up.
6.
Flip unit over again and make sure tubes are sitting
flush against the Coupler Insert. Tighten down the
remaining coupler bolts. Tubes should be secure
in coupler with no movement. Be sure to not
overtighten. See Figure 2

PART 3—MOUNT TO VEHICLE
With the tubes assembled and coupler secured, place unit
on the top of your vehicle where you would like to mount it.
Make sure it is far enough forward to clear the rear hatch of
the vehicle if you have one.
Please Note: Depending on positioning of your crossbars and
clearance of rear hatch, there are three methods to mount
the Rod Vault ST depending on the desired position for your
vehicle. See images below. Once placing the Rod Vault with
tube assembly completed on top of your vehicle, take note
of the position of your crossbars to identify which mounting
configuration you will use. Most people will use the T-Slot/
Nose Cone configuration.
Once you have identified which mounting configuration you
will use to align with your crossbars, remove the unit from
the top of your vehicle and follow the steps below to secure
the mounting hardware.
Depending on your mounting configuration, you will have
unused parts when you are finished with your assembly.
